Apple Translate expands to iPad and across apps

Apple may have been late to the machine translation game but they’re working to make up for lost time.

They announced today that the Apple Translate app is coming to the iPad, seen here:

But what’s more interesting is the real-time language translation support shown here:

And translation of its new Live Text feature, shown here:

So you can translate package labels, signage, etc. Yes, Google was first to this but it’s great to see Apple following along. And, seen below, Apple will bring its machine translation engine to its many apps, such as email.

I don’t know how many language pairs are supported and am quite confident Google will hold the comfortable lead for the near future. But it’s great to see Apple going all-in on machine translation.
