Borders Rethinking Amazon

According to Internet Retailer, Borders is reviewing its relationship with Amazon, which operates Borders.com, Waldenbooks. Borders.co.uk, and Booksetc.co.uk.

When Borders announced an expansion into Ireland in November, I wrote that it would be just be a matter of time before Borders abandoned its partnership with Amazon. And this is no commentary on the quality of service that Amazon provides Borders, as I have no idea either way. It just seems to me that Borders has a different globalization strategy than Amazon and it will need a Web site that supports this. I’m not sure Amazon is in any hurry to add more localized Web sites but I suspect Borders will be.
